Again.
A little over a month ago we learned that his brain cancer was back. Again.
Doctors - the best in the nation - have had to have brutal conversations with Bradley and I. It's their job - probably the worst part of it. This is the second time that they have had to tell us that there is "no known cure" for recurrent Medulloblastoma. The second time that our options for treatment dwindled.
Today he begins his second round of "mild" chemotherapy. As hard as it is to sit in the hospital for an entire day of summer and as easy as it is to be angry that another day of his childhood is spent in a hospital - it always lifts our spirits to be grateful.
Grateful that this mild dose of chemo allows us to continue to live each day to the fullest. To check items off of his doctor prescribed "bucket list" - even if we aren't ready to use that language. Thank you chemo for allowing us to spend time with family and friends, to learn to surf, to enjoy mountain lakes, jump off rocks, and to travel.
We are currently waiting to see if he qualifies for the clinical trial PBTC-053 at Stanford. This trial is specific to SHH - Sonic the Hedgehog Recurrent Medulloblastoma. We won't know until next month if this is possible - so we remain grateful that this mild chemo is available for him during this time.
