Dec 22 - Update
We were home for almost a week when Miles experienced a minor setback. The side effects of radiation are nasty and Miles was not feeling well. We were admitted to the hospital for the night in Medford. Miles told us that he did not want to tell us how bad he was feeling because “he didn’t want to start all over and be apart from his family for two months”.
While this was incredibly hard to hear, we were also so proud of Miles for articulating his feelings. We are working on a plan to help ease his anxiety before we head into six rounds of chemo.
As hard as this setback was, the silver linings were easy to find.
1- He was able to express his feelings.
2- We had an incredible experience at Asante and feel very confident in their care if we are able to have inpatient chemo administered there.
Within an hour of being back home he was running all over the property and today he kept up his annual tradition of decorating Christmas cookies with his brother and cousin Shelby.
There are no accidents in life and with every setback there is reason why.
