Nov 18 - Halfway There

We have been “believen” every day - but Miles was especially excited that today he is officially HALFWAY there! He has completed 15/30 radiation treatments and 3/6 chemo infusions.
As Miles was leaving today he began telling the proton concierge that he was halfway done (I just love saying that title and think they are awesome!) when an older gentleman approached Miles and asked him if he was the one who gave him the Veteran’s Day gift.
Miles said that he was the kid and then looked right into the eyes of the other gentleman and said “Thank you for your service sir.” The older man - undergoing treatment himself looked right back at Miles and said “Thank you young man, your parents must be very proud of you.”
I don’t think there were any dry eyes left in the lobby. Not only for the exchange of words, the act of service, but the silent acknowledgement that each of these two people were fighting a battle only those two could know - even seven generations apart. It was as if a brotherhood was created.
We have had some amazing adventures and experiences and we can’t wait to see what the second half brings!
