Back to School

Miles enjoyed his first day of 5th grade today. His school is more than a building or even a classroom. Fort Jones Elementary is a family.

He’s attended every day since he was in Kindergarten and this is his last year before he heads to middle school. A special place to spend six of the most important years of your life.

As he battled Miles has missed his school family so much. His last day was September 30th - the day we found his tumor. After that day our lives changed forever. During his absence his 4th grade teacher and his classmates honored him by keeping his desk with name tag in the same spot he left. They even put his chair out each day. The staff held a parade in his honor, classes sent cards, and kids ran hundreds of miles for him.

Today’s reunion was another sign of the great things that lie ahead - that his future is bright and that he is loved.

Thank you to his Bulldog family for loving him - because he loves all of you just as much.
