Goodbye Port!

This warrior had surgery on 11-1-21 at 11am to have his port removed. This is a major “MILEStone” in his road to continuing to kick cancer to the curb.

Having a port has essentially decreased the number of “pokes” he has had to have over the last year as he received IV meds, chemo, blood transfusions or needed labs drawn. He and his port have had a love hate relationship. Even today his anxiety spiked before the process of being accessed. He’s thankful for the companionship of efficiency - but he was more than ready to get rid of it today.

His parting words before leaving for the OR “make sure they save it mom, we’re burning it in a bonfire along with my radiation mask!”
