Happy Heavenly Birthday
April was your birthday month and we spent it in some incredibly sad ways. We picked out your headstone. Sadly, something your dad and I already did for your brother. We also went and talked about you to a group of managers at Costco - because you are the Southern Oregon Miracle kid. Every day a thousand people will get asked to support the Miracle Kid Network - because of you.
We also finalized the recepient of the Scott Valley Scholarship given in your name to a deserving EHS student who possesses many of your amazing qualities.
We watched your brother be a bat boy for the Stanford baseball team and cheered you on loudly. The next day we were humbled when your friends paid tribute at our local rodeo.
We celebrated your 12th birthday on April 18th, without you in the best way we knew how - honoring your spirit.
We gave back. Thanks to the generosity of others we donated over 200 Lego sets to your primary hospital in Medford, Oregon and $1,200 to purchase more as needed. Each child who receives a set will see your smiling face and a bright yellow ribbon.
We toasted with Shirley Temples and had fellowship with friends and family.
We watched friends and teachers run in your honor on the same track you conquered the 100 mile club in.
We sat in awe of your continued impact as we listened to Representative Doug LaMalfa use his time in Congress to speak about YOU to people across the country, all while a flag flew high in our nation’s Capitol in your honor.
We thought about seeing you again in Heaven as we listened to your friends in CCD recite a prayer and ring bells for you to hear in heaven.
We cried. A lot. We miss you and as best as we could make today - we know it’s nothing compared to the heavenly birthday you enjoyed.
