Jan 20 - Sonic Greeting
We were greeted by a special visitor when we arrived at the hospital to begin our stay this morning.
One of the members of his medical team dressed up as Dr. Eggman - Sonic the Hedgehog’s nemesis. (You may recall that the specific genetic marking of his brain tumor was “Sonic the Hedgehog”. Miles even chose to have his radiation mask decorated as Sonic.)
Not only are the members of his team incredibly intelligent and understand the complexities of cancer and treatment - they truly care for kids. Miles is one kid out of thousands that this hospital sees and this man remembered that Miles chose to embrace the genetic markings of his disease - then he chose to make a costume to reach Miles at His level. Above and beyond is an understatement.
We received more tough news regarding side effects and more in depth treatment today. I texted a friend that I felt that we just keep climbing and moving mountains. He didn’t skip a beat when he reminded me to keep climbing because the view at the top is always worth it.
It’s a good thing we have folks like Dr. Eggman on our team to reach the top.
