It seems almost perfect that Miles FINALLY began his participation in a clinical research trial for recurrent Sonic the Hedgehog Medulloblastoma today at Stanford during the month of September - Childhood Cancer Awareness.
πππ
Perfect because it shows how desperately we need help to advocate for more research for childhood cancer.
πππ
Cancer is still the leading cause of death by disease in children.
πππ
This is our βHail Maryβ for Miles. We know any other option wonβt work and we donβt know this wonβt.
πππ
We know that the government still only gives 3.8% of their annual funding to pediatric cancer research. πππ
We know that on average each chemotherapy drug was approved before 1970 and were not developed for Childrenβs growing bodies and therefore 95% of survivors have life long medical issues.
πππ
We know that each bag of chemo Miles has had cost 7k and each pill 2k. Big pharma has banked almost a quarter million off of Miles and it didnβt work.
πππ
But we donβt know this trial wonβt work - so again we leave home, again we sign papers, and again we enter the unknown because we know our medical world must do better. And we want to be a part of the solution.
