Changing the Narrative

“Cancer Sucks” is a popular narrative within our culture. And it’s absolutely true. I wore this shirt yesterday when I took Miles up to get blood products. You can see the unspoken affirmation on people’s faces when they read the words. Yes, we all know it sucks.

To be honest, I think wearing the shirt actually makes me feel worse about our adventure moving this mountain.

What if we spun the narrative?

THANK YOU CANCER. For making our family stronger, closer, more appreciative, more loving, compassionate, adventurous, faithful. . .

Miles still wasn’t 100% after his blood transfusions yesterday so we had another night stay and I didn’t pack any clothes so I’m stuck in this shirt.

But I’m not subscribing to it. In fact if I can track down a Sharpie I’m changing the narrative. Starting today.
