“I donated because I want to help cure cancer — because I wanted my Papa to be with us as long as possible. I chose the Knight Cancer Institute because of their research.” — Carter Isbell, 11 years old

Carter, a 4H and outdoors enthusiast, donated $600 to the Knight Cancer Institute on behalf of his grandfather, John, who had a glioblastoma removed in February

In October, Carter’s younger brother, Miles, had a medulloblastoma removed at OHSU. Miles was proud to sign the paperwork to allow his tumor to be studied by scientists.

Once the Isbell family returned home to Fort Jones, California, their neighbors wanted to match Carter’s donation — for Miles. Together they donated $600 to the Knight Cancer Institute in honor of Miles and the Isbell family.

Thank you, Isbell family, for sharing this heartwarming story with us.
