There are no words. . .
"A true warrior fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him."
Miles’s latest scan in early June revealed new tumor growth in his brain. These images were reviewed at Tumor Board. A fancy name for a meeting with some of the most intelligent doctors, surgeons, radiologists, researchers and scientists in the country. They all agreed that this new growth was progressive disease - “the tip of the iceberg”. This automatically disqualified Miles to participate in the clinical trial he had been on since February.
The risks of another surgery or radiation do not outweigh the benefits. We have put our names on six month - a year long waiting list for CAR - T cell therapy. There are no other current trials which make sense. We have decided to move forward with a milder regimen of chemotherapy which he can receive as an outpatient in Medford at Asante. This chemo will not wreck his little body nearly as much as the last time.
We are not done battling and Miles is a warrior - with an army of love behind him. Although our family has been absolutely destroyed with this news our love for each other grows stronger by the minute - strengthening our warrior for his third battle.
